Venice Music Festival  Needs Volunteers 

This September 16 the Venice Music Festival will be in need of volunteers for a variety of tasks from set-up to break down, and everything in between. This is an annual fundraising event that features live music from around the world, and benefits a local nonprofit organization in Venice. No experience necessary, just the desire to participate and help the Venice Music Festival run smoothly. Four hour shifts are available, and volunteers will be given two tickets to the afternoon concert.

Venice Music Festival Seeks Event Planning Committee 

The Venice Community Housing Corporation (VCHC) seeks inspired individuals to join the event planning committee for its annual fundraiser, theVenice Music Festival, to be held September 16, 2006.  The event features several bands performing music from around the globe, a silent auction and delicious fare- while raising much needed funds to support our various programs.Committee members are sought with any level of experience or expertise that will help us pull off another successful event. Silent auction solicitations, volunteer coordination, PR; these are only a few of the aspects of event planning that our committee members will address. Professional experience is less important than the desire to be a part of an event that survives and thrives on the energy of a dedicated committee.Take this opportunity to be a part of a fun event, give back to your community, and even build your resume. Meetings will be held once a month, beginning in May and culminating in mid-September.

LA Bridges Safe Passages Program

The LA Bridges program at Venice Community Housing Corporation is looking for 2-10 volunteers to help middle-school aged children get to and from school safely.  LA Bridges has an after-school program on Mark Twain Middle School’scampus.Volunteers will work in 45-minute shifts, up to 7.5 hours a week.  Optimally, volunteers would serve in this capacity long-term.  Volunteers will share the following schedule:

7:00-7:45 AM M-F

3:30-4:15 PM MWTHF

1:00-1:45 Tuesday

There is no experience necessary nor are there any age requirements.  We are looking for dependable volunteers who wish to serve the community.

Computer Tutor

Venice Community Housing Corporation is looking for a female Computer tutor to help people at our Transitional Center learn computer skills.  The desired candidate must be a bi-lingual female over the age of 21.Optimally the volunteer will train two evenings a week, for two hours a session.Skills needed:  Patience, sufficient computer skills to teach basic word processing, e-mail, and internet lessons, fluent in English and Spanish.  Volunteers need to also possess strong communication skills and be personable.

Volunteer Receptionist

Venice Community Housing Corporation is looking for a part-time receptionist. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering telephone and managing messages
  • Greeting and directing people
  • Tracking and assisting staff with office supply orders
  • General office duties, including monitoring fax, printer and copier machines.
  • Assisting with projects as directed by Executive Director and Administrative Director, including office errands, filing, mailing, faxing, scheduling, copying, and assembling board packets.

Training and orientation will be provided. The time commitment is Tuesday-Thursday, between the hours of 9am-6pm.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills a plus. Computer skills helpful, but not required.
