Venice YouthBuild is a program of Venice Community Housing that provides low-income and underserved transitional aged youth ages 18-24 the opportunity to obtain their high school diplomas and receive vocational training while becoming leaders in their lives and communities.

Venice YouthBuild is currently seeking volunteers to tutor students in Math and English, volunteer as mentors in the Career Center, support Service Day events, lead recreational activities and offer classroom assistance.

1) CAHSEE Math or English Tutors
- Tutor individuals and small groups to preare them for the High School Exit Exam. (M-W, 2-3:30)

2) Career Center Volunteers
- Update job, career college opportunities on our internal website and job boards. (Th, 12-2pm)

- Mentor and support students with job searches, mock interviewing and career advice (M-F, 2-3:30pm)

3) Community Service Event Volunteers
-Join us on Service Fridays to help expand our impact (F, 7:30am-2:30pm)
-Role model volunteerism and professionalism while supporting student leadership.

4) Teacher Assistants
- Assist staff with duties such as filing, copying and organizing
- Volunteer in the classroom assisting students with classroom and help promote program values and policies. (M-Th, 7:30-11:30am, M-Th, 11:30-2pm)

5) Extra Curricular Volunteers
-Support student elective groups as a mentor or workshop facilitator, Areas of interest including art, gardening, music, athletics, cooking, construction and community advocacy.

-Background check
-Experience with mentoring low-income, transitioning young adults
-Experience in volunteering area of interest
-Willingness to commit to volunteering for at least 2 months unless offering a one-time service
-Tutors are required to hold a B.A. (AA will be considered)
