
Services for Low-income Families and Individuals
In response to the needs of the low-income families in our community, VCHC offers a variety of programs that work to foster stable, self-reliant individuals, families and neighborhoods. These include:
Affordable Housing helping nearly 500 low-income families and individual stay housed and build self-sufficient lives;
Transitional Housing for homeless women and their children, helping them transition into new homes and economic stability;
Tenant Services, a range of family services on-site at our housing facilities including Shelter Plus Care to help homeless individuals with disabilities move off the streets and reach their full potential in life;
Infant Toddler Development Center cares for young children while their parents pursue employment and educational opportunities;
Community Works for Kids, an after school arts, education and recreation program for youth in our buildings and the surrounding areas;
L.A. Bridges mentors, tutors and provides safe, after school activities at Mark Twain Middle School for youth at high risk for gang involvement;
YouthBuild helps at-risk youth transition into successful adulthoods through job training, secondary education and supportive services;
Another Chance provides out of school youth with a second chance at a high school diploma;
Venice High Teen Court, a peer-based alternative to the juvenile system for young people accused of first-time minor offenses;
HandyWorker, provides free minor home repairs for low-income elderly and disabled homeowners; and
Westside Repair & Painting Services (WRAPS), a home repair service for all Los Angeles residents and property managers.
