
Resident Services
VCHC provides a comprehensive Shelter Plus Care program to help formerly homeless, disabled residents reach their full potential in life, as well as range of on-site services at our housing facilities.
Shelter Plus Care provides permanent affordable housing and case management services to homeless single adults with a dual diagnosis of physical or mental disability including HIV/AIDS and/or a history of substance abuse.Residents Services help tenants and low-income residents of the surrounding areas achieve higher levels of self-sufficiency and economic and personal success. Classes and workshops are offered for the tenants of our buildings and the larger Oakwood and Mar Vista communities, including:
- Pre-employment training workshops such resume writing, job interviewing skills and computer job search training;
- After school homework assistance and art classes for children ages 6-11;
- After school personal health and safety classes, in cooperation with the UCLA TEACH program, for children ages 6-14;
- Applications for the LIHEAP energy discount program; and
- Free Tax Preparation, for households earning less than $56,000 (open to all community members).
